Lead SA has congratulated Miss South Africa, Rolene Strauss (22), on being crowned Miss World 2014 at the pageants final in London this evening.
The last time South Africa won the title was when Anneline Kriel was crowned Miss World in 1974.
“Rolene has done the nation proud. We are ending this year on a high note as we bring the crown home after 40 years. Rolene is only the third South African to walk away as Miss World,” said Lead SA.
Lead SA also congratulated the first and second runner up, Miss Hungary, Edina Kulcsar and Miss USA, Elizabeth Safrit respectively.
“We wish you both well and know that you will use this opportunity to make a difference,” said Lead SA.
Rolene, who is a fourth year medical student, shined this evening as she honoured our country with the words “South Africa this is for you”.
“We have extraordinary talent and leadership in South Africa. Rolene has shown that beauty can have a significant purpose. We look forward to her reign as Miss World and wish her well as an ambassador for South Africa to the rest of the world,” Lead SA added.
Lead SA will be partnering with stakeholders in a welcome reception for Miss World later this week. Details will be announced by the Miss SA team and sponsors soon.
